Delete your account
This page explains how to delete your account and data in Boredchat, the chat app by Merieu Private Limited, on iPhone and Android.
the short version
- In the app: Profile, Settings, Delete account, type DELETE, then Delete everything.
- Everything goes: profile, photos, chats, media, voice notes, matches, games, likes and stars.
- Deletion starts at once and usually finishes within minutes.
- No app? Email [email protected].
- Cancel premium in the App Store or Google Play too, or it keeps renewing.
1. Want a copy first
You can download everything we hold about you before you delete it. In the app, go to Profile, then Settings, then Privacy and data, then Download my data. You get a file with your profile, chats, likes, matches and the reports you made.
2. Delete in the app
- Open Boredchat and tap Profile in the tab bar.
- Tap Settings.
- Scroll down and tap Delete account. You can also find it in Settings, Privacy and data.
- Read what will be deleted, then type DELETE in the box.
- Tap Delete my account, then Delete everything to confirm.
You are signed out and your account is gone. This can't be undone.
Have premium? Deleting your account doesn't cancel your subscription. Cancel it in your App Store or Google Play settings. See how to cancel.
3. Delete without the app
If you no longer have the app or can't sign in, email [email protected] with the subject "Delete my account". Send it from the email address of the Google or Apple account you use to sign in to Boredchat, so we can find your account and know it is you. If you used Apple's "Hide my email", tell us the relay address, or send from it.
We confirm by email and delete your account within 30 days, usually much sooner.
4. What gets deleted
- Your profile: first name, birth date, gender, country, bio and profile photos.
- All your chats, photos, videos, voice notes and GIFs, including stored media files.
- Your matches and games. Your matches lose the chat with you too.
- Your likes, passes, stars (bought and free) and filters.
- Reports you made and blocks you set.
- Our copy of your purchase records, your push token and your sign-in link to Google or Apple.
5. What we keep, and for how long
| What | Why | How long |
|---|---|---|
| Reports about an account that was banned, with the reported item | Safety, and to answer appeals or the authorities | 1 year after the report |
| Ban list entry: the Google or Apple account ID and email of a banned account | So a banned person can't sign up again | As long as the ban stands |
| Admin log entries, which hold IDs only | So every admin action can be checked | As long as needed for accountability |
| Evidence of child sexual abuse material | The law requires us to keep and report it | As long as the law requires |
| Purchase records held by Apple or Google | They keep their own records of your payments | Under Apple's or Google's own policy |
If you never had a ban, no report about you or ban list entry is kept. Photos and videos a match saved to their own phone are outside our control.
6. How long it takes
Deletion starts as soon as you confirm. Your profile disappears from Discover and your chats disappear for your matches at once. Stored media files are removed from our storage within minutes. A request by email is done within 30 days.
7. Accounts you stop using
If you don't open Boredchat for 2 years, we delete your account in the same way.
8. Questions
Email [email protected]. More on how we handle your data is in the privacy policy.
