Terms of use
the short version
- You must be 18 or over, use one account, and tell the truth about yourself.
- Be kind and follow the community rules, or we may suspend or ban you.
- What you send is yours. You let us deliver it to the person you send it to.
- Premium renews automatically through Apple or Google until you cancel it in the store.
- Bought stars never expire. Refunds are handled by Apple or Google.
1. This agreement
These terms are an agreement between you and Merieu Private Limited ("we", "us"), the developer of Boredchat. By creating an account you accept them, together with the community rules and the privacy policy, which explains how we handle your data.
2. Who can use Boredchat
- You must be 18 or over. We check your birth date at sign up. If you are under 18, you may not use Boredchat, and we delete accounts of anyone under 18.
- You must be allowed to use the app under the law where you live.
- You may not use Boredchat if we have banned you before.
3. Your account
- One account per person. Don't make extra accounts or share yours.
- True info. Your birth date, first name, gender and country must be true. Photos must be of you.
- You sign in with Google or Apple. Keep that account safe. You are responsible for what happens on your Boredchat account.
- You can edit your profile at any time. Your bio must be 50 to 300 characters.
4. How to behave
Follow the community rules. In short: be kind, respect consent, and never send sexual content to someone who hasn't clearly agreed. Absolutely no content involving minors. No harassment, hate, threats, scams, spam, selling, impersonation, illegal content or encouraging self-harm.
You may not reverse engineer, scrape, overload or break the app, get around limits like free turns or premium features, or use it to collect other people's data.
5. What you send
- You own what you write and send: your bio, messages, photos, videos, voice notes and game moves.
- You give us a limited, worldwide, royalty-free licence to store, copy, process and deliver it to the people you send it to, and to show your card to other users. The licence is only for running Boredchat and ends when the content is deleted.
- You must have the right to send what you send. Don't share other people's photos or private information without their permission.
- The person you send normal photos and videos to can save them. One-time view media opens once and is then deleted.
- We may remove content that breaks these terms or the rules, or that we must remove by law.
6. Premium subscriptions
Premium adds filters (gender, age and country), 1 free weekly star, a premium tag on your profile, and premium chat features in every match: unlimited game turns, GIFs, voice calls, videos and camera media.
| Plan | Base price |
|---|---|
| Weekly | 6.99 USD |
| Monthly | 14.99 USD |
| Annual | 49.99 USD |
- Prices may vary by country. Apple and Google set the local price and taxes from these base prices. The store shows your exact price before you pay.
- Billing. Your Apple or Google account is charged when you confirm the purchase.
- Auto-renewal. Your plan renews automatically for the same period and price unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account is charged for the renewal within 24 hours before the period ends.
- Cancel in your App Store or Google Play subscription settings. Deleting the app or your Boredchat account does not cancel it. After you cancel, premium stays until the end of the period you paid for. See how to cancel.
- Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their rules. We can't issue refunds ourselves. If a purchase is refunded, its premium or stars are removed.
- If we ever change a price, Apple or Google tell you before it applies, and you can cancel.
7. Shared premium in a match
A match is a premium match when at least one of the two people has active premium. Then both of you get all premium chat features in that match. Filters, stars and the premium tag stay with the person who pays. When premium ends, the match goes back to free features. Nothing already sent is removed.
8. Stars
A star is a like with a short message, up to 140 characters. It puts you at the top of the other person's Liked you list. Anyone can buy star packs.
| Pack | Base price |
|---|---|
| 1 star | 0.99 USD |
| 5 stars | 3.99 USD |
| 15 stars | 9.99 USD |
| 30 stars | 17.99 USD |
- Bought stars never expire while your account exists. They have no cash value, can't be transferred, and are lost if you delete your account or are banned.
- Premium includes 1 free star each week. It is given every Friday at 00:00 UTC and expires at the next Friday 00:00 UTC if you don't use it. Free stars don't add up.
- When you send a star, the free weekly star is used first, then a bought one.
- Prices may vary by country, as set by Apple and Google.
9. Games and free turns
You can play 7 games with a match inside your chat. In a free match, each game has a limit of free turns per match, currently 10. The count is kept on our server and doesn't reset when you restart a game or reinstall the app. In a premium match there is no limit. We may change the number of free turns. The app always shows how many you have left.
10. Suspensions and bans
If you break these terms or the rules, we may remove content, give you a warning, suspend your account until a set date, or ban it. We choose based on how serious it is and whether it happened before. For the most serious cases, like content involving minors, we ban at once and report to the authorities.
A banned person can't sign up again with the same Google or Apple account or email. If you are suspended or banned, you lose access to premium and stars during that time, and no refund is due from us. You can appeal by email, see how to appeal.
11. Ending your account
You can delete your account at any time in Profile, Settings, Delete account. See delete your account. Remember to cancel premium in the store too.
We may end or suspend our service, or your account, if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms, if the law requires it, or if we stop running Boredchat. If we stop running Boredchat, we'll tell you at least 30 days before.
12. Disclaimers
- Boredchat connects you with strangers. We don't run background checks and can't promise who someone is. Be careful about what you share and with whom, and never send money.
- We work hard to keep Boredchat running, but we can't promise it will always be available or free of errors.
- The nude filter and screenshot blocking help but can't catch everything.
- Nothing in these terms limits rights you have as a consumer under the law where you live.
13. Limits on our liability
We are responsible for harm we cause on purpose or through gross negligence, for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, and for anything else the law doesn't allow us to exclude.
Apart from that, and as far as the law allows, we are not responsible for what other users say or do, for losses you couldn't have foreseen, or for indirect losses. Our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid for Boredchat in the 12 months before the claim, or 50 USD if that is more.
14. If you use an iPhone
If you downloaded Boredchat from the Apple App Store, Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement (apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula) applies to your use of the app, together with these terms. If they conflict, Apple's terms apply to the licence of the app.
These terms are between you and us, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for Boredchat or its content, has no duty to provide support or maintenance, and is not responsible for any claims about the app. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.
15. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms when Boredchat or the law changes. We update the date at the top. If a change matters, we tell you in the app at least 30 days before it applies. If you don't agree, you can delete your account before then.
16. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of India. If you live in the EU, you also keep the protection of the consumer laws of the country where you live, and you can bring a claim in your local courts. Write to us first so we can try to fix the problem.
If any part of these terms can't be enforced, the rest still applies.
